Would you feed your child corn with bacteria genes spliced into it or food that causes your child's stomach to bleed? If you find this disturbing, you are not alone. In fact, in more than 60 countries, there are significant restrictions or bans of genetically engineered crops. With no labeling or safety evaluation requirements for genetically modified foods-the United States is the king of GMOs.

What are Genetically Modified Organisms?
The active ingredient in Roundup is glyphosate. Glyphosate is contraindicated for a healthy functioning body and has been found to trigger developmental issues in kids. This is something we need to examine and question thoroughly for the inherent safety of the general public.

A genetically modified organism (GMO) is an organism whose genetic material combines DNA from one species to be injected into another species creating combinations of plant, animal, bacteria, and viral genes that do not occur in nature or through traditional crossbreeding methods. GMOs were created to resist pests, diseases, environmental conditions, increase the shelf life and improve the nutrient profile of the crop.
GMO Food is Not Safe
“Genetically modifying crops such as wheat, corn, canola, beets, soy and others provide them with survival advantages and extends their shelf life. However, companies like Monsanto manufacture GMO food that contains the herbicide and pesticide Roundup. The active ingredient in Roundup is glyphosate. Glyphosate is contraindicated for a healthy functioning body and has been found to trigger developmental issues in kids. This is something we need to avoid for the inherent safety of the general public,” said Bioray’s President Stephanie Ray.
Monsanto insists that glyphosate is not harmful to humans, suggesting that its mechanism of action in plants - the disruption of the shikimate pathway - is not present in humans. This is untrue. The shikimate pathway is involved in human gut bacteria biosynthesis. It helps with digestion, absorption of vitamins, detoxifies toxins, and is an important part of your child’s immune system.
Additionally, GMO foods leave the liver and kidneys unable to effectively detoxify nitrates, heterocyclic amines, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and benzene by inhibiting CYP enzymes. The liver's inability to adequately metabolize these toxins is a major contributing factor in unhealthy cellular function.
What You Can Do To Protect Your Children
Avoiding bioengineered food is difficult unless you eat 100% organic. Consuming organic, unprocessed or minimally processed food is the best way to avoid glyphosate and achieve optimal health. However, we know this isn't always possible. It is estimated 80% of the foods in commercial grocery stores in the US and Canada are genetically modified. Mom and dad, you might want to consider a detox program or simply add in NDF SHINE and NDF CALM when your child eats at restaurants or at school. Research shows chlorella, an ingredient found in NDF® SHINE and NDF® CALM helps to benefit RNA and DNA cell structure in the human body, so important in kids exposed to GMO-spiked food. NDF® CALM contains additional ingredients that support the liver's ability to naturally detoxify these toxic chemicals.
How Common are GMOs? How are Businesses Responding?
According to the USDA, it is estimated that GMOs are now present in more than 80% of packaged products in the average commercial U.S. grocery store including 93% of all soy, 93% of all cotton, 86% of all corn and 90% of all canola.
"Chipotle is the first national restaurant to commit to serving only Non-GMO ingredients and we applaud them for it. Target as well is now adding more than 200 products and 31 brands to provide more organic, sustainable merchandise. Having major retailers and restaurants respond to concerns for healthier options is not only great for the environment but a smart way to do business. Parents have tremendous power in demanding safe food for their family, and make it evident by what they choose to purchase," said Ray.
